The whole Bible once, the New Testament and Psalms twice — in two sittings a day.
Day 1 is whenever you start. There's no calendar, and no way to fall behind.
Robert Murray M'Cheyne was twenty-nine when he drew up this calendar for his congregation in Dundee in 1842. He died the following year. It has been in continuous use ever since, and it is still the most-loved plan there is. Four readings a day in two sittings. The Family readings were meant to be read aloud with the household; the Secret readings were for private devotion. Here they are two strands you check off separately, so it is no trouble if one runs ahead of the other. Over a year you read the Old Testament once and the New Testament and Psalms twice.
